Lockdown is a one-click tighter mode for a connected site. Confirm it on Protect. The plugin pulls it on the next signed check-in. No remote shell and no WP-CLI.
What turns on: a login question after the first failure, lockout after 3 tries for 60 minutes, theme and plugin file editors off, XML-RPC pingback-only, headers on, and tighter rate limits. Pro and Shield Care also require admin two-factor and raise key virtual-patch log rules to block. Require admin 2FA asks you to confirm first. After the next check-in, admins who have not enrolled go to Users, Profile. Stop requiring it from Protect. If someone cannot enroll, rename wp-content/plugins/bedrock-shield or use the lockout steps.
Undo from Protect. We restore the snapshot from before lockdown, then the site picks that up on the next check-in. You never change DNS.
